Over the years, especially with the arrival of the infomercial, the world has seen various fitness crazes and fad diets. Let’s hop into our time machines (be it DeLorean or TARDIS) and take a look back at some of the most memorable fitness crazes over the decades.

Shake Weight

Thanks to the suggestive motion, videos of the Shake Weight went viral, leading to appearances on “Jimmy Kimmel,” “Saturday Night Live“ and “The Daily Show,” among others. We’ve all seen the Shake Weight, but what does it do? The Shake Weight is a dumbbell that pulsates and provides a bicep workout.

The Thighmaster

In honor of being on the latest season of “Dancing with the Stars”, remember when Chrissy Snow was an exercise mogul?

Throughout the late 80s and early 90s, every household had a thighmaster. The beauty of the product was that it could be done anywhere, anytime.

Tony Little

If you were ever awake during the night in the 90s, you definitely remember Tony Little. He was the guy with the long hair hanging out of his baseball cap screaming at you from inside the TV about how easy fitness is!

He brought us the Gazelle, a full-body workout suspended in midair. Think an elliptical machine, but with a more range of motion.

Tony’s still out there, being “America’s Personal Trainer” and yes, the hair lives on.

Now that we’ve finished going down memory lane- what do YOU think will be the next biggest fitness fad?!
