Mercy for Animals is dedicated to improving the living conditions of farmed animals and promoting compassionate food choices and policies. MFA, founded by Nathan Runkle– celebrated 15 years of groundbreaking work with a star-studded Anniversary Gala and awards ceremony. Gardein has always been happy support the MFA, and this year Yves Potvin, gardein founder/president, was honored with the first ever The Innovative Business Award- presented by Kathy Freston. Yves’ fellow MFA award honorees included Pamela Anderson and Moby.
The black-tie event, hosted by Hal Sparks and Jane Velez-Mitchell, was held on the stunning rooftop deck of The London West Hollywood. Drawn to the cause and celebration of MFA’s accomplishments, the guest list included such celebs as Emily Deschanel, Sam Simon, Natalie Maines, Leona Lewis, Fiona Gublemann, Drew Carey, Tal Ronnen, Elaine Hendrix, Diane Warren, Jennifer Tilly, and Russell Simmons.
Guests joined in a silent auction and vegan dinner, including gardein’s animal-friendly food. Gardein served up crabless cakes, meatless meatballs, fishless filets and chips, and tasty mini tacos. The event raised well over $1 million dollars to go eliminating animal abuse and promote the well-being of these creatures.
