“Summer, summer summertime!” – Will Smith sang it the best! What better way to start the summer off right than with a “Summer BBQ kickoff”?!

Let’s take a minute and think about all the AWESOME events coming our way…we’ve got graduation parties, 4th of July, pool parties, family visits, road trips, lake trips, backyard parties and more! Now on to the more important question- what can we grill up that’s tasty and healthier than the usual fare? Chef Roberto Martin, the personal chef to Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi offers over 125 tasty recipes in his latest book, “Vegan Cooking for Carnivores”. These delicious recipes cover so many of our summer favorite meals such as: fajita quesadillas, roasted corn dodgers, sliders, hamburger spring rolls and more!

We at gardein offer a variety of yummy meatless options for grilling this summer! Whether it’s our delicious beefless burger (try our teriyaki grilled pineapple recipe!), or our new gluten free veggie burger and gluten free black bean burger. Are crispy chick’n sliders more your thing? All our yummy protein will satisfy your guests’ taste buds and appeal to their waists with no cholesterol and less fat than regular meat.

But in case they have room for more, here are the go to items for having the coolest summer barbecue on the block:

  1. Lemonade— It’s not a summer barbecue if the lemonade isn’t flowing! This kid friendly beverage can also be given an adult twist by adding it to a light lager and making shandys. Trust us, your friends will thank you.
  2. Veggies— Finish off your dish with some grilled veggies (mushrooms, asparagus, eggplant, bell peppers)! Add a little bit of seasoning, and you’ve got an extremely easy and tasty barbecue snack.
  3. Potato Salad—dress it with a tangy lemon vinaigrette and fresh mint for a healthier version of this classic standby.

It’s not the meat that makes the barbecue- it’s the dancing taste buds you produce!
